Leitch's Clearing is a track in the Whareorino Forest. It is named after Sam Leitch who cleared the land awaiting roads and a bustling town which never came. The land was eventually returned to DOC, but in the middle of the forest, Letich's Clearing remains, and is now the site of a very nice DOC hut.
